Visa:
The visa is obligatory for all visitors. Recently, it is possible to get it at the arrival on the island.
Health:
No vaccination is obligatory but the sanitary situation of Madagascar imposes to surround itself/themselves with precautions. The malaria, the bilharzias and other tropical illnesses are spread on the island. Purifying water or drinking mineral water are obligatory. The vegetables and cool fruits must be avoided, unless to be peeled. To verify his/her/its vaccinations also against hepatitises, tetanus, typhoid. To foresee a preventive medication against the malaria and a good kit to pharmacy.
Time-lag: Madagascar's time zone is GMT+3.
When to leave?
The climate varies considerably from a region and one season to the other. The humid season, then cyclonic (November to March) is less favourable; rains are able to block some roads. The East of the island is otherwise rainy between June and September. And the west of the country remained all year round sunny.

The international airports of Ivato and Philibert Tsiranana are joined by several airline companies such as Madagascar air | Air France | Air Austral.

Currency and credit cards
The Ariary (AMD or Ar) has replaced the Malagasy Franc (MGF or Fmg) since january 1st, 2004 ( 1 Ar =5 Mgf ).
The credit cards are rarely used in shops in Madagascar. Payments are most of the time by cash. Only the Visa International credit card is accepted to adjust your extra and only by some banks to withdraw some cash. The traveller’s checks and credit card are accepted by the main banks of big cities of Madagascar. We advise you therefore to carry away with you euros or dollars that you will change once arrived in Madagascar.
